What is the next step to owning a wolfdog?
Miller's Wolfhaven has spent alot of time in researching wolfdogs and the requirements needed to care for dams and their puppies and they ultimately expect a certain level of knowledge in potential owners. Owning a wolfdog is not like owning an ordinary dog because they are not ordinary dogs and require special care and diets that a dog would not necessarily require. We do not take owner selection lightly at Wolfhaven and every potential owner has to go through a multiple step interview process. This interview process helps us ensure that each puppy is placed into a safe loving forever home.
We begin by asking anyone that is considering owning a wolfdog to fill out our Puppy Inquiries then at that point we will send out a conformation email acknowledging that the inquiry was received and that conformation will have information on the current years litters, a price breakdown for the litters along with some other information about what to expect when you purchase a puppy.
After a conformation email is sent we will contact you and set up a good time to have a phone interview, During your phone interview we will ask follow up questions to the ones from the Puppy Inquiry and get to know the applicant.during this step we will ask about what kind of knowledge you have with wolfdogs, what kind of environment they will be staying in and what kind of containment will be in place prior to receiving a puppy. We will at this point ask for references from the applicant and we will give information on how to contact our past buyers as well.
The next step in the process is for Wolfhaven owners to go over all the information gathered from the applicant and to check all references. The owners and staff will work with detail to evaluate the applicant and see if their are any follow up questions and will contact the applicant with those questions.
Deciding if the applicant is accepted or denied to purchase a puppy is taken serious and acceptance or denial of applicant is not to be taken personally because ultimately it is the safety and welfare of the puppies that matter most at Miller's Wolfhaven. If you are not accepted at the time of you inquiring we will give you the information needed to understand why and there will always be the possibility that you can apply again with us for one our other future litters.
